Foo Fighters - No Son of Mine
The "No Son of Mine" music video marked the studio's first collaboration with the Foo Fighters — and as Technical Director, it was a project that carried real weight. The role centred on simulation, asset build, and lighting, while also covering the broader technical and pipeline oversight that kept production on track from start to finish.

The video didn't shy away from its subject matter, and neither did the simulation work. Early R&D for the cocaine effect used vellum grains inside SideFX Houdini — that simulation was later used to drive a shaded VDB mesh, which helped tie the effect into the broader visual style of the piece. The same practical approach carried through to the vomit and urine sequences, where FLIP solver simulations handled the liquid motion. The video's stylised aesthetic actually worked in the production's favour here, keeping the level of detail realism in check and the results on the right side of watchable.
On slightly lighter ground, the gambling scenes called for some RBD work — basic dynamics run on the dice and ball objects using the Bullet solver inside Houdini. Nothing overly complex, but enough to get a convincing, natural motion without the overhead of manual animation.
